An established legal firm in Stafford is seeking an experienced Legal Cashier to join their team. The firm offers a comprehensive range of legal services to both businesses and individuals across four sites. This opportunity is based at their Head Office in Stafford and is a full-time, permanent position within an existing team. However, part-time candidates are also welcome to apply.

REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of general accounting principles and practices, with knowledge in areas specific to the legal profession. The role demands the ability to work under pressure, demonstrate initiative, and maintain focus and self-motivation at all times. Excellent interpersonal skills and computer literacy are essential. While experience in handling high volumes of transactions and working within a legal environment is preferred, it is not a strict requirement.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Legal Cashier will play a crucial role in the Accounts Department, providing essential financial support across the entire practice. Key responsibilities include raising client invoices for costs and disbursements, ensuring the accurate application, and recording of VAT, and processing payments through various methods. Additionally, the role involves managing daily banking activities, managing inter-account transfers, performing bank reconciliations, recording all transactions using the firm’s legal software package, data entry, and filing. The Legal Cashier will also produce financial reports for management, ensure all cash and cheques are banked daily, generate monthly reports and spreadsheets, and stay up to date with RSA regulations. This is a busy but rewarding role, requiring a keen eye for detail and the ability to work effectively within a small, friendly team.
