THE COMPANY
Our client, a local Shrewsbury-based company, is seeking a Ledger Clerk for a permanent position. You will be responsible for maintaining the sub-contract ledger and processing of weekly sub-contract labour only payments.
THE ROLE
In this position within the commercial department of a local business, your responsibilities will include ensuring compliance with the company’s sub-contract payment procedures for weekly labour-only contractors. You’ll manage the sub-contract database, verifying up-to-date bank details and CIS status before processing payments. Additionally, you will handle certificates for payment through both matrix and non-matrix orders, aligning with CIS and VAT requirements. Building strong relationships with finance and commercial teams is essential to ensure timely payments to sub-contractors in accordance with payment terms and contractual obligations. The role also involves liaising with internal and external stakeholders, streamlining sub-contract processes, and contributing to automation efforts. Other duties include reconciling sub-contractor statements.
REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of two years’ experience in sub-contracting, demonstrating familiarity with CIS regulations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are crucial, given the role’s interactions with both internal and external customers. The ability to meet deadlines, ensuring on-time payments to suppliers and contractors, is essential. Proficiency in IT, especially in Excel and Word, is preferred, and knowledge of the COINS Accounting System would be advantageous, though full training will be provided.
